More than a year after the launch of the Galaxy XCover 7, Samsung is apparently planning to launch an upgraded Pro model of the rugged mid-range smartphone. This new handset has already appeared in a certification and benchmark.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 stands out in the current lineup of Samsung Galaxy smartphones primarily due to its easily replaceable 4,050mAh battery and its rugged, water-resistant and drop-proof chassis. It appears that the launch of the more expensive Galaxy XCover 7 Pro is now imminent, as the smartphone has been tested on Geekbench and certified by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Samsung is apparently replacing the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ in the Galaxy XCover 7 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, which is significantly more powerful and sports four ARM Cortex-A715 performance cores and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. With a Geekbench 6 score of 1,157 points (single-thread) and 3,288 points(multi-thread), the processor is 67 percent and 76 percent faster compared to the Dimensity 6100+ in the base model. The FCC certification confirms that the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro will support NFC for contactless payments, in addition to WiFi 6, Bluetooth and 5G.
The Galaxy XCover 7 Pro is expected to ship with One UI 7 based on Android 15. At least one variant of the new mid-range smartphone pairs the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 to just 6GB of memory, which would suggest a relatively affordable base trim. The battery has a capacity of 4,265mAh, which is roughly 5% more than the regular Galaxy Cover 7. Although the battery is smaller than in most regular mid-range Android smartphones, it’s much easier to replace. The exact price point and release date of the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 Pro have yet to be confirmed.
