Now lets talk about the new NIN policy which is now a serious thing in Nigerians now. We at GenesisTechBlog is to let you in on how to link your NIN to your sim cards.
It was mandated by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) telcos to block all SIM cards that are not registered with NIN within 2 weeks this was in December untill when the federal government shifted the ban.
The NCC has also warned the general public to be careful of swindlers that go about claiming to be enrolling the NIN for people. Please take note you can easily check if you have a NIN from your phone.
HOW TO CHECK IF YOU HAVE A NIN
Firstly, all you neeed to know is that if you have a BVN number you have NIN number!!!
Lets start by dialing *346# from your SIM card that is connected to your BVN, If you already have a NIN number even without National ID Card then the 11 digit number appears on your phone.
But if you don’t have then you have to go to the NIMC centres in your area or authorized outlets to enrol for your NIN.
Normally it supposes to be free, but base on Nigeria level – The Guys will ask you to pay some certain fee so that they can fast track it for you.
I HAVE NIN – HOW CAN I LINK MY SIM CARDS?
This is the issues many Nigerians with the NIN are currently having now.
Although, the Telcos have done their possible best to inform the general public on the ways each people with the number can easily link their SIM.
Well, we’re to help you with the ways in case you missed the Telcos awareness.
FOR MTN USERS
Firstlt to link your NIN, simply dial *785# using the phone number you wish to link, enter your NIN and submit or;
Dial *785*Your NIN# from the phone number you wish to link. The number will be linked to your NIN automatically.
Second Way
Visit https://mtnonline.com/nin/ using your phone or computer. Complete the NIN linking form by entering your name, phone number, NIN, and email address. Submit the form as soon as you’re done and wait for feedback from the network.
AIRTEL USERS
To link your NIN to your Airtel phone number, follow the steps below:
Dial *121# on the Airtel line you wish to link.
Type 1 for “NIN Capture” and send.
Enter your 11-digit NIN and send.
Wait for the message confirming your submission
GLO USERS
To link your NIN to your Glo phone number, follow the steps below:
Subscribers are to text “UPDATENIN followed by the NIN First Name Last Name” to 109
example:- Send “UPDATENIN 12345678909 Ajala Ngozi” to 109 on your GLO number.
OR Simply visit the nearest Globacom office to register/link their NIN.
9MOBILE USERS
To link your NIN to your 9Mobile phone number, follow the steps below:
Update your NINs instantly through an online self-service NIN update portal www.9mobile.com.ng/nin
9mobile has also made available a USSD option *200*8# that allows subscribers to check the matching status of their NIN to their SIM
